Medieval tudor manor in the Lake District

Key info:

  • 2-3hrs per day, 2 days off per week (unless housesitting)

Accommodation intro:

We are Henry and Anna, we live in a small Tudor manor house built onto a fourteenth-century pele tower on the edge of the Lake District. We live here with our two teenage children, our dog Styx and a number of free range pigs and chickens. We have two holiday lets and also host bed and breakfast in a 17th-century wing of the house. We have a large and wild garden and adjacent woodland that you would have access too!

Volunteers would be staying in a self-contained private apartment / studio. This includes a grand piano and smart TV. The studio does also ahve steep steps so may be unsuitable for those mobility impaired.

We would also ask that those staying have their own car.

What we need help with:

We can always use help with the garden, we might also need a dog sitter at some point. Our caretaker may also be able use some help with the pigs and chickens, however no experince is needed for this!

Flexible hours, around 2-3 hours a day, 5 days a week Free time to explore the local area

We have a friendly labrador called Styx, two cats and free range pigs and poultry.

Local area

Although we are quite rural, we are only 6 miles from the M6 at Penrith and the West Coast mainline. We live on site, as does our caretaker and his family. All our guests and any potential volunteers have access to our gardens and the adjacent woodland. We are on the edge of the Lake District and all that that has to offer, as well as being within an hour's drive of Hadrian's Wall and the Yorkshire Dales. There is an excellent pub within a mile and a full range of shops in Penrith.
