Meet the Host

Beautiful Country House and glamping site set in 45 acres of woodland

Key info:

Accomodation:

Our country home has the benefit of 45 acres of private woodland, gardens and grounds and is home to an abundance of wildlife, rare plants and flowers. We also have hot tubs. The area is very scenic and breathtakingly beautiful.

A double bedroom on the second floor of the house (for couples or single people):

  • Double size bed and a single bed
  • Desk
  • Windows with a view on 2 elevations to our amazing gardens.
  • Private bathroom

You will have the use of a shower room on the ground floor and full use of a large sitting room with a widescreen smart TV.

What we need help with:

We have a glamping site with large areas of land. We welcome volunteers to help with all aspects of gardening, land and woodland/ orchard management. Also house keeping and pet care. DIY, Maintenance. Volunteers with carpentry, forestry skills welcome but not essential. Volunteers with photography and social media skills are also welcome. We have a small tractor and two lawn tractors. We are happy to teach volunteers to use them and strimmers and blowers.

Who we're looking for:

We welcome people who want to spend time outdoors helping in the house and our gardens and grounds. We can teach you to ride a lawn tractor, compact tractor and a quad bike and use brush cutters, fencing in the fields etc. No experience is necessary, we are good teachers. My Mother has a lot of gardening knowledge to pass on. Volunteers are encouraged to share their culture and food during shared meals in the evenings. We can also teach carpentry & DIY skills if you want to help with maintenance around the house. We are regularly building new garden structures and maintaining old ones. Its a lot of fun and very satisfying for those who wish to be involved. Helpers would also help look after our dogs. We have large areas of natural woodland that require constant management and are home to some incredible wildlife.

Extra perks

We have large gardens with sofas and tables and chairs for alfresco dining. We also have a ground floor bedroom suitable for a single person or a couple; This room has a single bed that converts to a double with a corner sofa, coffee table and its own TV. We are also constructing a small house for volunteers which has a bedroom with a TV suitable for sleeping, and has a toilet and a sink. We are still working on the compact kitchen and shower room for this self contained accommodation, but that should be ready soon.

Local area

We are surrounded by our own land and the beautiful Shropshire Hills. We have breathtaking views and spend much of the summer socialising outdoors. We are 6 miles from the Historic Medieval Market Town of Ludlow and within walking distance of The Clee Hills where you will find a pub, coffee shop and a small family run supermaket. The village of Hope Bagot also has a country pub.

Meals

We provide all food. Volunteers will help themselves to breakfast; cereals, toast, pastries, eggs, jam, honey, chocolate spread etc. I make lunch for everyone consisting of a variety; sandwiches, sausage and cheese rolls, crisps, cheese and biscuits, salad, quiche, pizza, burgers, cake etc. We can cater for vegetarians. Volunteers take turns to cook dinner in the evenings and can request ingredients of their choice.
