Volunteers at our farm can expect a warm welcome and a true taste of rural life in the heart of Hertfordshire. You’ll be part of a friendly, supportive community surrounded by rolling countryside, scenic walks, woodlands, and cosy local pubs. The area is rich in wildlife and traditional village charm, with plenty to explore on your days off.
During your stay, you’ll have the chance to get involved in a wide variety of activities — from caring for animals and growing food in our fields and polytunnels, to helping with maintenance, repairs, and small construction projects around the farm. There are also opportunities to support woodland management, sustainability projects, and community events throughout the year.
We’re passionate about sharing our knowledge of farming, horticulture, and rural care, and we welcome volunteers who want to learn new skills, meet new people, and experience life on a working farm. Whether you love the outdoors, want hands-on experience, or simply enjoy being part of a meaningful community project, our farm is a rewarding place to volunteer, learn, and grow.
Accomodation:
Our farm is a welcoming, working farm in rural Hertfordshire, offering a blend of sustainable agriculture, social care, and community engagement. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, it provides opportunities for people of all abilities to connect with nature, animals, and food through volunteering, education, and meaningful work. Close to local Towns/Villages.
Volunteers will have a private bedroom and access to a shared bathroom and kitchen.
What we need help with:
We’re looking for volunteers to support a wide range of activities at Church Farm Ardeley. Opportunities include helping with livestock such as cows, sheep, pigs, and small animals; assisting with horticulture in our fields and polytunnels; and supporting the sale of homegrown produce to the local community. Volunteers can also get involved in woodland management, ground maintenance, and ongoing construction projects across the farm. In addition, we run seasonal events like Easter, Halloween, and Christmas celebrations, as well as our rural care programme supporting adults with learning disabilities. There’s something for everyone who wants to learn, contribute, and be part of a thriving community farm in the Hertfordshire countryside.
