About

We have a quiet, adults-only glamping retreat on the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales. We're in a peaceful rural location, about a mile off the main road so it feels as though you're in the middle of nowhere, although the nearest town - Pwllheli - is just three miles away. We’re surrounded by fields and woodland, with wildlife everywhere you look: moorhens on the lake, visiting herons and kingfishers, foxes and hares in the fields, and kites and buzzards circling overhead. We keep a few chickens and grow our own organic fruit and veg, with plans to expand into an orchard and beekeeping in the future. Volunteers who enjoy sustainable living, growing food, and being outdoors will feel right at home. One of the best things about staying here is the chance to switch off completely. Our shepherd huts have no WiFi or televisions - intentionally - so you can rest properly, reconnect with nature, and enjoy slow, quiet living. Being on a peninsula, we’re also close to some of the best beaches in the UK, the Wales Coast Path, and brilliant hiking trails into the mountains. It’s a great base for exploring North Wales during your downtime. If you enjoy practical tasks, fresh air, and peaceful surroundings, this is a lovely place to spend time and contribute to a small, sustainability‑focused retreat. Volunteering opportunities vary throughout the year, depending on the month and what’s happening around the site. Tasks might include gardening, looking after the chickens, harvesting fruit and making jams or chutneys, painting and weatherproofing the huts, and the occasional bit of DIY. From time to time we also have small projects such as planting trees or building dead hedges to support biodiversity. We also really appreciate help with general site maintenance - tasks like strimming, weeding, tidying pathways, and keeping the grounds looking neat and welcoming. It’s the kind of place where there’s always something to do, whatever the season.

Meals

Our shepherd huts are fully self‑contained and each has a well‑equipped kitchen, so you’ll be able to prepare and enjoy your own meals whenever you like. We’re quite sociable and love sharing food, so there will definitely be opportunities to eat with us if that’s something you’d enjoy - anything from a relaxed supper to a chat over coffee. At the same time, we completely respect your privacy and understand that you may prefer quiet time to yourself. You’re very welcome to dip in and out depending on how you feel; there’s no expectation either way.

Local area

We're just three miles north of Pwllheli, and there’s a huge amount to see and do nearby if you’d like to explore during your downtime. You’re spoilt for choice with beaches - long sandy stretches, hidden coves off the beaten track, and great spots for swimming or sunbathing. You can do a variety of water sports including paddleboarding and kayaing in Pwllheli or Abersoch and you can hire an e‑bike to explore the backroads. There are also great hiking trails: Yr Eifl is a fairly easy climb with panoramic views, and Snowdon is only about 40 minutes away if you fancy a day out in the mountains. The Wales Coast Path also has some beautiful stretches that you can pick up. There are plenty of places to visit too: Portmeirion, the Ffestiniog Railway, and coastal towns like Aberdaron, Abersoch and Llanbedrog, home to Plas Glyn‑y‑Weddw, a beautiful art gallery with woodland walks. History lovers can also explore nearby castles including Harlech, Criccieth and Caernarfon.

The map shows the approximate area. The exact location is shared once a stay is confirmed.
