Nestled in the wild, beautiful hills of Herefordshire, is a characterful countryside venue with a story. What began as a crumbling old farm has been lovingly transformed over 15 years into a unique events space, complete with two bars, a covered courtyard, fire-cooking areas, and acres of peaceful land. This isn’t a polished, corporate place—it’s creative, a little rugged around the edges, and full of personality. We host alternative weddings, gatherings, and seasonal events, and we’re always working on new projects, from land-based improvements to creative builds and event prep. For volunteers, it’s a chance to step away from the noise and be part of something real. You’ll learn practical skills, get involved in hands-on projects, and experience a slower, more grounded way of living. There’s space to breathe, think, and connect—with nature, with people, and with meaningful work. We’re best suited to open-minded, proactive people who enjoy getting stuck in, don’t mind a bit of mud, and appreciate good food, good conversation, and a bit of adventure. Come if you want more than just a place to stay—come if you want to be part of a story

Information

Meals

We provide a food allowance of £30 per person, per week, so you can buy and cook what you like. The kitchen is stocked with basics like oil, salt, pepper, rice, pasta, tea coffee, sugar to get you started. Volunteers are welcome to cook for themselves and use the kitchen freely, but there’s also often the chance to eat together—especially during events or when we’re cooking over fire. These shared meals are relaxed, sociable, and a great way to feel part of the place, but there’s no pressure if you prefer to do your own thing.

ust a short drive away, Hay-on-Wye is a small but world-famous market town sitting right on the border between England and Wales. Known as the “Town of Books,” it’s packed with independent bookshops, quirky stores, and creative energy, attracting artists, writers, and free spirits from all over the world. Despite its size, Hay has a big personality. Its cobbled streets, historic castle, and thriving weekly market give it a timeless, slightly eccentric charm. The town comes alive during the internationally renowned Hay Festival, when thinkers, creatives, and curious minds gather for talks, music, and ideas. Beyond the town itself, the surrounding landscape is what really makes this place special. Nestled on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, you’re surrounded by wild, rolling countryside, the Black Mountains, and the beautiful River Wye. It’s an ideal base for walking, swimming, canoeing, or simply switching off and soaking up the views. The whole area has a relaxed, creative
