Nestled on the Carmarthenshire-Pembrokeshire border, our 14-acre smallholding is a peaceful, off-grid eco-retreat. Our car-free camping meadow features spacious pitches with access to immaculate compost toilets, hot showers, and a shared washing-up area.
The Best Bits for Volunteers:
The real highlight is the chance to fully switch off, slow down, and immerse yourself in a tranquil, rural lifestyle. It’s a wonderful space to learn practical green skills and enjoy stunning dark skies. To keep you comfortable, you’ll have full use of our covered "pop-up" outdoor kitchen housed inside a communal gazebo; giving you a rustic, social hub to cook and unwind.

What You’ll Be Helping With:
We offer a real variety of flexible, seasonal tasks that change week-to-week, including:
Gardening: Helping maintain our beautiful tiered gardens and wildflower borders.
Grounds Maintenance: Bramble clearing, stream drenching, pond maintenance, and keeping nature trails open.
Log Supply: Light log splitting and wood stacking for our campsite honesty shop.
General DIY: Light painting, rustic site maintenance, and helping prepare guest spaces.

Accommodation Options:
1) Campervan, Roof-Tent, or Pitch-Your-Own: Bring your own setup and relax on a spacious meadow pitch.
2)Safari Tents (2 Available): Off-grid canvas tents sleeping up to 4 people, fitted with a king bed and bunk beds.
Please note: All volunteers (pitches & safari tents) must bring their own bedding/sleeping bags and towels.
Shared Facilities
For volunteer stays, facilities are shared across the site with other volunteers
Outdoor Kitchen Shelter: Covered timber space equipped for cooking and preparing meals.
Site Facilities: Hot showers, clean compost toilets, and a shared washing-up area.
Off-Grid Amenities: Dedicated device charging station and a communal freezer for ice packs/food.
Pencwm Escapes is a peaceful, off-grid, non-electric site focused on sustainable living.

When you aren’t helping out on the smallholding, there is so much to explore right on our doorstep on the Carmarthenshire-Pembrokeshire border. We are situated in the foothills of the Preseli Hills, an ancient landscape steeped in myths and legends. Volunteers can spend free time hiking "The Golden Road"—a 7-mile Neolithic track along the spine of the hills offering panoramic views. You can find prehistoric stone circles and visit the spot where Stonehenge's inner bluestones were mined.
For culture and day trips, the vibrant, independent market towns of Narberth and Cardigan are just 20 minutes away, packed with artisan craft shops and cosy cafes. The stunning medieval ruins of Cilgerran Castle and the beautiful coastal boutique town of Newport are also a short drive away. For coastal lovers, the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast Path and sandy beaches like Poppit Sands & Mwnt are within easy reach.
