I live inside a stunningly beautiful ancient rainforest on the sea. Both my home (two open plan huts that I built in my thirties) and yours, are perched like tree houses, with views through and over the woodland down to the sea. It takes about ten minutes to get to the rocky shore and beach. I'm a gateway to the islands - ferries to Arran, Gigha, Islay and Jura are less than a half an hour bus ride away. I have a good tool shed with chainsaws, hand tools, power tools, a quad bike, dingy and outboard, a bike, and a kayak. Four years ago my husband had an affair and left while we were renovating and adding power and water to my original build. I bought two caravans and a brilliant mixture of volunteers and professionals have completed the renovation. I'm a mile north of the village of Tarbert on Loch Fyne. It's a busy little village with a couple of restaurants, pubs, cafes, a co-op, health-food shop, post office and loads of tourist shops. I'm a writer of literary fiction - you can find me on Substack serializing my latest novel, but since my husband left, my life has become completely immersed in this place. I'm looking for both short term and long term volunteers. Not less than a month or more that a lifetime. Folk coming for a month to lend a hand with planting trees, general help with keeping things tidy inside and out. I sometimes run free workshops, so as well as taking part, I may need help preparing and cleaning up. Long term, I need someone handy!

I have a private water supply with filters and pumps and the need for occasional TLC. I am creating new rainforest, scything bracken initially, then using an industrial strimmer to create areas of grass - then making pens out of anything I can into which I plant young trees, that I've gathered from the rainforest. Two huts, two caravan, a quad shed, a sauna, a tool shed - it all needs attention from time to time - storms batter me, things snap and tear and trip. I'm practical, but long for a long termer who gets to know and love this place like I do. Happy for a long-termer to find local work - good communication skills are kind of essential - I am very flexible - but with grandchildren and a disabled son, I go away quite regularly and I need someone orderly to trust this place to when I'm not here. Oh, I also have hens that go to bed in a tree house!
