We are an award-winning, eco-focused camping and glamping site set on a 110-acre estate in North Yorkshire, with woodland, open meadow and a small stream running through it. We offer a mix of camping pitches, cabins and a unique treehouse, along with good facilities, fire pits on every pitch, a wood-fired pizza shack, and seasonal experiences like sauna, ice baths and apitherapy. It’s a balance of nature and comfort — not wild camping, but not overdeveloped either. Volunteers here are part of the day-to-day running of a busy, well-run site. Tasks vary but can include helping keep the site clean and organised, assisting with guest areas, light maintenance, and occasionally supporting things like the pizza shack or general operations. In return, you’ll stay in a genuinely beautiful setting with plenty of downtime to explore the area, enjoy the outdoors, and be part of a relaxed, friendly environment. It suits people who are practical, easy-going and happy to get stuck in.

The main focus of the role is assisting our maintenance team (working closely with Mike) with the day-to-day upkeep of the site and surrounding grounds. This includes things like hot tub changeovers, general maintenance and repairs to accommodation, and a wide range of practical outdoor tasks such as painting, varnishing, sanding, grass cutting, hedge cutting, strimming and weeding. There may also be opportunities to get involved in broader grounds and estate work, including fencing and general repairs around the farm, not just within the campsite itself. The work is hands-on and varied, so it suits someone practical, proactive and happy working outdoors in all weather. No specialist skills are required, but a good work ethic and willingness to get stuck in are essential.

Accommodation

Private Room & Shared Bathroom
Volunteers will stay in one of our Hoglet Houses – simple, cosy wooden cabins set within the woodland. Each has one double bed and two single beds, along with seating, basic storage and a small table/desk space. Each Hoglet has a log burner for warmth, making them comfortable even in cooler weather. They are off-grid, so there is no mains electricity (lighting is low-level and charging is via USB only), creating a peaceful, back-to-nature feel. Bedding and towels can be provided, or you’re welcome to bring your own. Toilet and shower facilities are a short walk away and are modern, clean and well maintained. You’ll be staying in one of five Hoglet Houses on site, so you may be alongside paying guests, which gives a good sense of how the site runs day to day.

We’re based just outside the village of Husthwaite, on the edge of the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with easy access to the North York Moors. There are endless walks straight from the site, along with cycling routes, quiet country lanes and wildlife spotting (deer, owls, kingfishers and more). The local pub, The Plum & Partridge, is about a 15-minute walk. The market town of Easingwold is 10 minutes away with shops, cafes and essentials, and the historic city of York is around 25 minutes by car if you want something busier. It’s a great base if you like being outdoors, but still want access to proper food, pubs and a bit of civilisation when you need it.

The map shows the approximate area. The exact location is shared once a stay is confirmed.
